It is with great sadness that today we announce the upcoming closure of our grooming operations. Our final appointments will take place on 30th September 2022.

Having operated for 12 years, including stores in Notting Hill Gate, Chelsea and Westfield, we’re immensely proud of what we’ve achieved. Meeting thousands of dogs, loving owners, and working closely with an amazing team who we consider part of the Purplebone family. Thank you to everyone who played their part during this incredible journey.

Like many businesses, we have been severely impacted by Covid-19 and increasing business costs. However, the biggest challenge we have faced is recruiting expertly trained groomers that match the talent of our existing staff, many of whom join us from Europe, with Brexit now making that more challenging. We have tried several things to become a more attractive employer, including a 4-day working week and an industry-leading training programme for junior staff, but have been unable to recruit sufficient additional staff who match our quality expectations.

The Purplebone brand will continue but we will move our focus to our online operation including Purplebone.com and Amazon. We have some exciting plans in the pipeline which we can’t wait to tell you about, including a line of new dog shampoos which has been developed using our expertise as one of London’s top dog groomers.

If you have booked an appointment on or before 30th September, this will proceed as usual with the same experienced grooming professionals.

FAQs

I have a grooming appointment booked, will this still go ahead?

If your appointment is on or before 30th September 2022 this will go ahead as normal and you do not need to contact us. Any appointments post this date will be refunded in full. If you request an appointment post this date, it will not be accepted.

What will happen to your online shop?

Purplebone.com and our Amazon store will continue to trade. Not only that, we also have exciting plans to develop our offering including a new shampoo launch.

Can I stay in touch with my groomer?

We understand that you and your pets have built relationships with our grooming team and may want to stay in touch. As our groomers have differing future plans, it may or may not be possible for you to keep in contact. We recommend you discuss this with your groomer directly on your next appointment.
